How it happened…the nomination phase…

The campaign kicked off in …. when we asked the public for nominations of their favorite likes and dislikes. We had a great response with over 100 nominations submitted to the website. Check out the Youtube stream for the great video nominations we received.

Using our rules of good packaging we shortlisted the 102 nominations to 8 finalists for the best and 8 finalists for the worst.   We announced the finalists on the 27th March when voting began.

Voting and the Roadshow

A tour of New Zealand was the next step.  The Unpackit Crew travelled the length of New Zealand from Invercargill to Kaitaia on the Unpackit Roadshow of Joy.

Schools, Universities, Farmer’s Markets, Town Halls and main streets were the stage for the show.  Stripteasing bananas on stilts, juggling mini pack madness and the PLA rap were all part of the show as well as a full run through of the finalists.

21 towns and 8743 votes later the crew returned to Wanaka and started counting to find out who New Zealand had voted for the very Best and very Worst Packaging in 2011.
